Ibrahimovic injury would be a disaster

Ibrahimovic injury would be a disaster, says Mourinho Jose Mourinho says any injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic would represent a "disaster" for Manchester United. The 35-year-old has impressed for United since signing from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, playing in 17 of United's 18 Premier League matches and scoring 12 goals. Mourinho has been consistent in his praise for Ibrahimovic since his move and had kind words for the striker again ahead of his side's home match against Middlesbrough on Saturday. A disaster," Mourinho told reporters after being asked how bad an injury to Ibrahimovic would be. "Obviously it would be a disaster, but that is football. [The goals he has scored] are not a surprise." The manager also suggested Ibrahimovic has to work harder for his goals in England than the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have to do in LaLiga. I want to stay in the most difficult place to win.” Regarding a new contract with United he said: “They didn’t [offer it yet] and I’m not expecting them to do because they gave me a three-year contract. Man.u Victor lindel deal

Manchester United close in on Benfica’s Victor Lindelof to strengthen defence Manchester United are closing in on Benfica’s Victor Lindelof, with the executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, hopeful of buying the central defender in January for less than his release clause of around €45m (£37.8m). The 22-year-old Sweden international is wanted by José Mourinho to bolster his defensive options. Once Eric Bailly recovers from a knee injury the Ivory Coast centre-back will participate in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, meaning he could be unavailable for six weeks. Woodward is confident United will not have to pay the amount specified in the release clause for a defender whose relative inexperience is reflected in his having won the first of 11 caps in March of this year. Benfica’s record sale is the €40m received from Zenit Saint Petersburg for Axel Witsel in 2012 and the club would be keen to break this. To get more on sport ne...
